You’re asking… We’re answering.
1. How do I know what you accept?
We accept clothing, shoes, kitchen and household items, books, toys, jewelry – Basically anything you can get into a box or a bag! We do accept some furniture items as long as they are clean and undamaged – For inquiries please call the store during our business hours.
2. What happens to items that cannot be sold?
Any donated items that cannot be sold are processed into one of our recycling streams, whenever possible.
Clothing and Textiles – These items are picked up by a textile recycling company and diverted from landfill – Our store alone diverts approximately 200,000 pounds per year of textile waste.
Metals and Electronics – We partner with a local metal recycling company to ensure that these items are recycled in a safe and environmentally conscious way.
Books – Damaged books are collected by a local partner and diverted from landfill.
3. How are you a social enterprise?
As a branch of Mission Services of London, all revenues generated by the store are used to support our programs: The Men’s Mission, Quintin Warner House, Community Mental Health Programs, and Rotholme Family Shelter.
4. I have limited time, can I still volunteer?
At the Mission Store we can accommodate a variety of scheduling needs. Visit our Volunteer page for more information.
